WHY: Polling from Bowling Green University shows that 57% of voters believe data centers are bad for the environment, 60% believe they drive up home energy costs and 71% support a temporary ban on new data centers. Yet Republican candidate for governor Vivek Ramaswamy, who would oversee virtually every agency that regulates data centers, gets richer nearly every time a new one is built. His financial disclosure reveals a personal investment portfolio that includes every part of the data center supply chain: chip manufacturers, hardware suppliers, real estate developers, and tech companies that operate the facilities. He is also deeply invested in fossil fuels which he is pushing to power data centers.

Now Ramaswamy is trying to run from his record. But Ohioans need to know exactly how he’s benefitting from the data center boom, and all the conflicts it presents if he becomes governor.
