New Tool: See How Much Ramaswamy Would Cut From Your Kids’ Schools

Innovation Ohio & Ohioans United for Public Education Release New Research Tool for Voters

COLUMBUS, OH — Vivek Ramaswamy’s plan to eliminate the state income tax would create a windfall for the wealthiest Ohioans while wreaking havoc on Ohio’s public schools. Today, Innovation Ohio and Ohioans United for Public Education are releasing a new tool that will allow Ohio voters to see just how much Ramaswamy will cut from their public schools.

An earlier report from Innovation Ohio found that the Republican candidate for governor’s tax plan would result in a 10% cut to Ohio’s public school system – or about $2.4 billion in total funding. New analysis from Innovation Ohio and Ohioans United for Public Education (OUPE) published on FakeVivek.com projects how much Ramaswamy would take from each school district.

Schools throughout the state would be hit hard by Ramaswamy’s cuts. For example, Ramswamy’s tax cut for the wealthy would cost districts in Cuyahoga County nearly $111 million.

However, districts in smaller cities and rural areas will be among the hardest hit if Ramaswamy’s tax plan becomes reality. Steubenville City School District will lose 17.1% of its 2026 revenue or just over $6 million. The Washington-Nile Local School District, in Scioto County along the Ohio River, will be cut by just under $3.3 million or 16.9% of its total 2026 revenue.

“Educators are already doing more with less because instead of fully funding our schools, Statehouse Republicans would rather give tax breaks to the wealthiest Ohioans and help well-to-do families pay for private school,” said Rob McFee, OUPE Board Member, OEA Secretary-Treasurer, and a 32-year veteran public school teacher. “We literally cannot afford Vivek Ramasway’s tax plan. And neither can our kids.”

Without additional state revenue, school districts will either ask voters to approve more levies or make cuts to educators, classroom materials, extracurriculars and more.

“It should be no surprise that Vivek Ramawamy’s agenda would decimate our public schools,” said Innovation Ohio President Michael McGovern. “Ohioans deserve to know just how much their kids’ schools will get screwed by Fake Vivek if he wins. Ramaswamy’s tax plan literally steals from our kids to give to the rich.”
